In 2015, BC Netball were fortunate to welcome Brittany Antipas – an indigenous netball player from New Zealand. Under the wing of Coach Ann Willcocks and playing alongside our BC Netball team and Canadian netball team (who many are now “long term friends”), Brittany continued to excel as a player in Vancouver. While originally a predominant midcourt player when she arrived into Vancouver, it was noticed early on that she was a versatile player and was trained in the GA/GS shooting positions. Sadly we had to say farewell to Brittany in late 2017 to pursue her physiotherapy career in New Zealand. We have since learnt of two high level awards that Brittany has received since being back in New Zealand and we wish to acknowledge her achievements.
Brittany was awarded the 2018 Top Shooter Award with a shooting statistic of 87% in Premier One grade (the top netball grade in her region). Brittany also found time to play Indoor Netball (as a shooter) and was awarded the Wellington Indoor Netball Most Improved Player. A big congratulations from BC Netball, Brittany. In such a short time back in her homelands, Brittany has continued to portray the necessary, talented and fun skills we were privileged to share and witness in Vancouver. Brittany and her mother attributes a lot of her shooting success in achieving these awards to BC Netball.
