WHAT IS A SANCTION?

A BC Netball Association (BC Netball) sanction is an official designation provided by BC Netball that approves the holding of a competition or other approved event in BC. The sanction is also a contract showing the event organizers commitment to follow provincial, national and international rules and regulations of the sport and to provide a safe environment for all involved.

 

PURPOSE OF SANCTIONING AN EVENT IS TO HELP ORGANIZERS ENSURE THAT:

1. The health, safety and welfare of all players and officials is a priority.

2. The event will be well managed and will be conducted in a fair and safe manner.

3. The event meets a standard of quality required for sanctioning by BC Netball.

4. The event does not conflict with any other BC Netball event.

 

BENEFITS OF SANCTIONING AN EVENT:

• BC Netball liability insurance coverage while participating in the event is extended to teams that are members in good standing with the BC Netball Association. Note it does not provide insurance to participants from outside BC. Teams from outside BC must provide proof of liability insurance.

• Access to resources.

• Promotion of event within the BC Netball community.

• Safeguards athlete eligibility.
