School Graduation External Credits for Playing Netball

External Sport Credentials are elective credits and cannot be used to substitute for required courses such as Physical
Education 10. Students can obtain External Course credit for netball in the following categories:
1. Athlete 10 and Athlete 12
2. Official 10

Athlete 10 – 4 credits
An athlete must have been selected to:

  • a regional/zone select netball team that competes at a the Under 18 provincial championship.
  • a regional/zone select netball team that competes at the BC Winter Games

Athlete 12 – 4 credits
An athlete must have been selected to:

  • The BC Under 18 team competing in the national championships
  • The BC Under 23 team competing in the national championships
  • The National Under 21 team

Officials 10 – 2 credits
A student must have completed:

  • a written and/or oral examination.
  • a practical evaluation/assessment,
  • umpired for 25 hours at the high school or junior league level

To obtain credits when a student has completed any of the above a student should do the following:

  • contact BCNA to request a verification letter for past performance
  • submit the letter of verification of participation for External Sport Credentials to the high school counselor.
  • students who earn External Sport Credentials prior to entering Grade 10 will need to file this documentation and present it once they have entered Grade 10 and are earning graduation credits.
